The decision to withdraw Operaciones el Escorial SA's application for a casino operating licence in the Antofagasta region has been made public by Chile's Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego (SCJ), the agency in charge of regulating casinos in the country.
The Enjoy Group's Chilean gambling subsidiary, Operaciones el Escorial SA, has been around since 2008.
In a letter provided to SCJ, the operator withdrew its application.
As a result, on May 4th, the regulator formally rejected Operaciones el Escorial SA's application through an exempt resolution.
In September 2021, Operaciones el Escorial SA sought to renew their casino permit through the SCJ's system.
Operating permits for the Enjoy San Antonio and Enjoy Santiago properties in the Valparaíso region were issued by SCJ once the procedure opened.
The procedure concluded on February 22, 2022, with several operators having applied for new or renewed licenses.
On June 23rd, the proposals will no longer be evaluated.
The SCJ has stated that it will keep reviewing twelve additional applications that were submitted in January of this year, in addition to those from October and November of 2021.
